Indonesia made history again by qualifying for the final round 2025 U-20 Asian Cup which will be held in China from February 12 to March 1. Here’s the history and achievements Indonesian U-20 National Team in the U-20 Asian Cup.

Tickets to China 2025 were won after Indonesia succeeded in winning Group F in the qualifiers which took place at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta. The Garuda Muda squad successfully defeated the Maldives and Timor Leste, as well as drawing against Yemen, in the series of qualifying matches.

Apart from that, Indonesia also won third place in 1962 after beating Malaysia with a score of 3-0 in the battle for third place.

Then in the 1970 U-20 Asian Cup, Indonesia again appeared as runner up after losing 0-3 to Myanmar in the final.

After that, Indonesia’s achievements experienced a setback. On U-20 Asian Cup 1972, Indonesia’s progress stopped in the quarter-finals.

In the 1975 edition, Indonesia failed to qualify from the group phase after finishing in third place in Group A. Then in the 1976 and 1978 editions, Indonesia’s struggle had to stop in the quarter-finals.

After the U-20 Asian Cup held a qualifying session in 1980 to determine the participating countries, Indonesia was only able to qualify for the first time in the 1986 edition after failing in 1980, 1982 and 1985.

The Red and White Team again appeared in the U-20 Asian Cup finals in 1990 and 1994 when they were hosts. Furthermore, his work on the Asian stage continued again in 2004 and 2014.

Indonesia’s best achievement in the current era occurred in 2018 when it became host. At that time, the national team coached by Indra Sjafri managed to advance to the quarter-finals before finally being stopped by defending champions Japan with a score of 0-2.

In the last edition of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup, Garuda Nusantara’s steps, strengthened by Hokky Caraka et al, had to stop in the group phase.
