The District Table Tennis Association neither has its own table tennis hall, nor does it have to maintain it, nor does it have to pay for the electricity there. Still, the District Table Tennis Association is charging service fees from the players for playing. The Municipal Corporation itself takes care of the table tennis hall built in Chitrakoot Dham and pays the electricity bills.
Apart from the registration fee of Rs 500, the District Association is charging a service fee of Rs 200 every month in the name of maintenance of the hall from every player who comes to play here, which is against the rules. There is also a preparation to increase the amount from Rs 200 to Rs 500 from January 1. Permission to play in the table tennis hall of the Municipal Corporation is given only after paying the fee. Due to fees, players did not come here, due to which even district level competition was not conducted.
On the complaint, the Collector has said to get an investigation done. The Corporation itself got the table tennis hall constructed on Municipal Corporation land. After construction, it was further improved by spending Rs 15 lakh. Now approval of Rs 5 lakh has been received from the MLA head, due to which the work of installing false ceiling and lighting will start. Joint Secretary of the association, Gopal Mali said that he has complained about the district association charging such fees illegally from the players.
Didn’t even send team to state level… Due to charging fee in TT Hall, players are coming to play less. For this reason, district level competitions for under 11, 13 and 15 were not conducted. For the first time, Bhilwara team could not even represent at the state level.
^The hall is built on Municipal Corporation land. Its maintenance and electricity bill is also paid by the Municipal Corporation. The corporation also bears the expenses of setting up tents and other expenses during the tournament. If you are charging players, then it is wrong. – Hemaram, Commissioner, Municipal Council. It was decided to take Rs 200 in the general meeting. If you are taking Rs 500 after this then it is wrong. Deepak Mansinghka, Chairman, District Table Tennis Association, Bhilwara, currently charging only Rs 500 for registration. Whoever complained is wrong. Every time, along with men’s tournaments, tournaments for under 11, 13 and 15 are also organised. This time due to delay in men’s tournament, this tournament could not be conducted. – Kushal Surana, Secretary, District Table Tennis Association
