VARESE – The Varese stage of the race has ended DESCRIBE Italy Next Gen Cup 2024/25the tournament reserved for Under 19 Serie A and organized by LBA. There will be two playing fields for the four days of matches, from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th: the Itelyum Arena and the Campus.

Varese Basketball’s balance sheet was negative: one victory and three defeats. Success on debut against Scafati (102-88) and knockout in the following three days against Virtus Bologna (91-68), Tortona (82-66) and Trento (101-61). The match against L’Aquila was simply unplayable: the gap on a physical, athletic and technical level is striking. Apart the talent of the usual Eliseè Assui (in the ItalHoop photo), Varese Basketball must ask itself about the generational “gap” between the promising Under 17s and the higher levelthe Under 19 team who then also plays in Serie B. There is and will be work to be done on individual development in the gym (as done for Assui) and in terms of summer recruitment. The Trento model directed by the bustocco Marco Crespi is certainly the one to follow, not only for Varese, but throughout Italy, if you want to “bring out” competitive players at a national and international level.
