Wambrechies, land of solidarity

The war ravaged their country but also interrupted their sporting career.

Faced with the situation, Dmytro Zozulia did not hesitate to do everything possible to find refuge for the two athletes.

Among the many doors he knocked on, one generously opened: that of Christophe Guillerme, President of the BWM.

Thanks to the commitment of Christophe and the club, Oksana and Oleksandr were able to find a home in Quesnoy-sur-Deûle, but also facilities to continue training and pursue their Paralympic dream.

Christophe Guillerme did much more than open the doors of his club, since by buying their plane tickets to participate in international tournaments, particularly in Canada, he played a decisive role in their preparation for the Paris Games.

Results that go beyond medals

This is how during the Paralympic Games, Oksana and Oleksandr were able to make their dream come true by proudly wearing the colors of Ukraine.

Oksana, SL3 para-badminton world champion in 2022, had a remarkable journey since she reached the ½ finals of the event by dismissing the number 2 seed, the Turkish Halime Yildiz, before falling against the ‘Indonesian Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh.
