After the success of “Die Therapie”, Prime Video is daring to implement the next Sebastian Fitzek thriller. As the streaming service announced, “The Way Home” will be available worldwide from January 16, 2025.
The thriller is based on the novel of the same name by the successful German author, which stayed in the bestseller lists for a total of 81 weeks and occupied the top position for eleven weeks in a row.
The story revolves around Jules (Sabin Tambrea, “Ku’damm series”), who one evening starts work on the escort telephone – a support service for women who feel unsafe on their way home at night. What initially looks like a quiet shift takes a dramatic turn when a young mother named Klara (Luise Heyer, 39) calls. She claims that she will die that night at the hands of a notorious woman murderer. The so-called calendar killer has given her a cruel ultimatum: Either she kills her husband (Friedrich Mücke, 43) or she will become his next victim.
Prime Video was able to win well-known German actors for the main roles. In addition to Heyer (“The boy needs some fresh air”), Tambrea and Mücke (“Balloon”), other roles include Rainer Bock (70, “The Collini Case”), Andreas Döhler (50, “Nothing New in the West). “) and Dennenesch Zoudé (57, “Unorthodox”).
Behind the scenes, Prime Video relies on a well-coordinated team. The production is once again in the hands of Ziegler Film, which has already successfully adapted Sebastian Fitzek’s “Die Therapie” as a series adaptation. Regina Ziegler, Barbara Thielen and Susa Kusche are responsible as producers. The script comes from Susanne Schneider (“Bella Block”), while Adolfo J. Kolmerer (38, “Oderbruch”) directs. In “The Way Home” the makers – as expected – rely on a gloomy scenario with dark and oppressive images.
