The Official Gazette of Castilla y León publishes today, Thursday, the resolution of subsidies for sports clubs and corporations in Castilla y León that participate in senior national competitions, for the development of their sporting activity through the Cantera Program. The Board has granted a total of 82,682 euros for the province of Soria of the almost 1.2 million that was the initial amount of the call; an amount that represents an increase of 20% compared to what was called for in 2023, and 33% more than the amount that this line of aid had in 2022.
The subsidies are distributed among 155 sports entities, ten of which are in Soria. In the regional total there are 136 clubs, 9 adapted sports clubs and 10 sports corporations.
The Cantera Program, developed by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports, aims to contribute to the consolidation of the sports structure of clubs and sports corporations to promote grassroots sports in Castilla y León.
The criteria for granting this line of subsidies aim to support those clubs that support a solid youth structure, with the greatest number of teams and athletes in all possible categories, so that a true promotion of grassroots sport in the Community is carried out. In addition, to make clubs more solid and resistant to economic difficulties since, in this way, the first teams of athletes from their quarry can be nourished, avoiding making significant financial outlays that lead the clubs to excessive debt.
Likewise, we continue to reward sporting results and militancy in the highest divisions of the different sports, supporting, even more, those clubs that in their first team have the greatest possible number of athletes trained in their quarries. Furthermore, included in the concession criteria are those that take into account the implementation of each sporting modality in Spain, the requirements regarding the minimum number of players on the team for each sporting modality, the number of competition days and also , sports in which there is a regular league and in which many trips are necessary during the season. In this way, the peculiarities of each sporting modality are taken into account.
The expenses to which the aid granted can be used are accommodation, maintenance and travel of athletes, technical staff and referees or judges, acquisition or rental of equipment, licenses and registrations, all of which are necessary to carry out the sporting activity.
Within these subsidies, part of the budget has been reserved for clubs that compete in adapted sports. This is one of the measures included in the Sports and Disability Program that this same Ministry has been developing since 2013.
