It’s that time again: You can vote for the “Heads of the Year” once a day in five categories until December 22nd at midnight. In the “Young Talents” category, five personalities from Lower Carinthia are taking part in this year’s election.

Julian Burtscher from Eberndorf has been a member of the VST Völkermarkt, rowing section, since 2016. The 18-year-old carpentry technician apprentice achieved his greatest successes this year: Austrian champion and Carinthian champion in the junior lightweight single sculls as well as Austrian runner-up and Carinthian runner-up in the junior double sculls with his boat colleague Nikolaj Wrienz.

In recent years, 18-year-old Batuchan Jusupov has always been on top in the U16 and U18 judo classes, and in 2023 he won the Austrian U18 Championship. The Wolfsberg judoka was recently crowned ASKÖ national champion. In addition, he fought for the Austrian national team at the 18th “Koroska Open” judo tournament in the junior U21 category.

Popèe Pototschnig from St. Michael ob Bleiburg/Šmihel nad Pliberkom has been doing athletics since she was four years old. The 17-year-old has already celebrated numerous successes in her sporting career, including becoming Carinthian champion. Her favorite discipline is the 200 meter sprint. Music determines the second half of her life. The student, who cares about her fellow human beings, not only sings, dances and composes but also plays the guitar and piano.

Sarah Trinkl is a young goalkeeper. The U19 national goalkeeper moved to LASK in July. The 17-year-old started playing football in Lavanttal before moving from Wolfsberger AC to the ÖFB Women’s Academy. In 2022 she was called up to the U17 national team for the first time and has appeared for Austria a few times since then. The St. Stefan woman wears the number one shirt at LASK.

Manuel Jöbstl from Bad St. Leonhard became a surprise winner at the international “AgroChallenge” competition in Estonia. The 16-year-old student from LFS St. Andrä was named the best plowman in Europe.
