CDMX.- The double medalist in diving from Paris 2024, Osmar Olvera, and the Olympic runners-up in judo and boxing, Prisca Awiti and Marco Verde, respectively, were the natural candidates to obtain the 2024 National Sports Award in the Non-Sport category. Professional, and the jury declared them winners yesterday.
The women’s archery team, a bronze medalist in the French Olympic pit, was the only medal winner that did not obtain the award given by the Federal Government to the best in the sport since 1975, and which in 2024 awards 796 thousand five pesos to each winner.
Those who have already received the award previously, as well as those awarded in the Professional Sports category, do not receive the financial stimulus.
Boxing achieved another recognition with Radamés Hernández, coach of Marco Verde, who won the Award in the coach category.
The champions in the women’s shot put F54, Gloria Zarza, and in the men’s 100 meters T54, Juan Pablo Cervantes, were recognized in the Paralympic Sports category.
Soccer player Charlyn Corral, former Atlético de Madrid player and current Pachuca member, receives the PND in the Professional Sports category.
The Olympic medalists in wrestling and diving, Daniel Aceves and Alejandra Orozco, respectively, were awarded in the Lifetime Achievement category.
The delivery ceremony does not yet have a date, and it will be the first official meeting of President Claudia Sheinbaum with the country’s sports community, in addition to the first joint activity with the head of Conade, Rommel Pacheco.
