“In this action, search and attack techniques are used, as a result, a significant amount of war material is seized,” said Brigadier General Oscar del Cristo Diaz Montiel, commander of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 1.
The National Army has reiterated its commitment to continue with sustained military operations in the departments of Meta, Guaviare and Vaupés. The objective is to effectively combat organized armed groups operating in these areas, seeking to restore security and order in the region.

The discovery occurred in a rural area of Istminawhere troops from the 2nd Marine Brigade found the semi-submersible. Colonel Ricardo Visbal, commander of the brigade, detailed in a statement that the device measured 20 meters long and 2 meters wide. Furthermore, he explained that the semisubmersible could be attached to the hulls of large ships to be towed to its final destination.
Along with the semi-submersible, authorities also found mortars and explosives, posing a significant threat to the local population. These findings underscore the ELN’s continued criminal activity in the region, which remains a focus of concern for Colombian security forces.
The department of Chocó, known for its difficult access and dense jungle, has historically been an area of operations for illegal armed groups due to its strategic location for drug trafficking to Central America and beyond. The Navy operation is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle drug trafficking infrastructure and reduce the influence of insurgent groups in the region.
