In recent days, the Carabinieri of the Cirò Marina Company have reported five Crotone fans, accused of illegally carrying weapons and objects capable of offending. Three of the five were already recipients of a DASPO., the provision prohibiting access to places where sporting events take place, and will now also have to answer for the violation of its restrictions.
The episode occurred at the end of the Serie B match between FC Crotone and Benevento, which took place at the Ezio Scida municipal stadium in Crotone. After the end of the match, the five fans attempted to attack some Benevento supporters who were passing along the SS 106, in the Torre hamlet of the municipality of Melissa, while returning towards Taranto. The attack was interrupted by the timely intervention of the Carabinieri, who stopped the group for a check.
During the search, the military found two balaclavas, a baseball bat, a plastic stick, a plastic pipe, an FC Crotone scarf and a mask in the car. The objects were immediately seized and are now available to the Judicial Authority.
The phenomenon of violence linked to fans remains a concern for the police, especially in contexts where they try to guarantee safety and public order during and after sporting competitions. This episode is yet another reminder of the need for greater controls and preventive measures to prevent a few individuals from compromising the safety and serenity of all the fans attending the matches. The five fans involved will face criminal proceedings which will ascertain their responsibility for the accusations made.
