Home fighters mostly did well at the Canadian UFC tournament. Most of them collected victories, but one of the few exceptions was the seasoned tough guy Marc-André Barriault. The 34-year-old fighter compared his strength in front of the Edmonton audience with the American Dustin Stoltzfus, and it didn’t turn out very well for him. Already in the first round he went to the ground, got an extremely painful KO.
At the same time, the winner could decide on the win itself right from the end of the match. Not even seventeen seconds had passed and Stoltzfus knocked Barriault off his stability with a quick kick, he went to the ground and before he could look around, he already had an American vise around his neck.
Stoltzfus crushed his rival, gradually tightened the screws, but did not make it. Immediately, he failed in other submission attempts. The Canadian survived all the unpleasant moments, although his head was slowly turning red. Stoltzfus’ work on the ground was elite.
Shortly before the end of the round, the Canadian darling finally got to his feet, challenged his rival to a frantic shootout, which proved fatal for him. Both fighters fired hard at each other at the net, landing one poisonous blow after another, Stoltzfus again had more of the game.
The 32-year-old native of Pennsylvania pulled out a crushing hook from his repertoire that found his opponent’s chin precisely and it was over. Barriault immediately went to the ground, his eyes wide, his expression blank, but Stoltzfus wasn’t done yet. He inflicted two more hard hammers on the fallen opponent before the referee stopped him.
