Jannik Sinner (23, Italy), who confirmed his No. 1 ranking in the world at the end of the year, also won the Men’s Professional Tennis (ATP) Finals trophy. Sinner defeated Taylor Fritz (27, USA, world No. 5) 2-0 (6-4, 6-4) in the singles final of the ATP Finals held in Turin, Italy on the 18th. The ATP Finals is a king-of-the-match tournament in which only the top eight ranked players of the season are invited. Sinner is the first Italian player to win this competition, which has been held since 1970. Sinner, who made history in front of his home fans, said, “Personally, it is even more meaningful because it is my first time winning in Italy.” Sinner reached the finals of this tournament last year, but lost to Novak Djokovic (37, Serbia, 7th) and had to be content with second place.
