This competition is sponsored by the State Sports General Administration and the China Sports Federation, hosted by the Chinese Basketball Association, Zhejiang Sports Bureau, Zhejiang Sports Federation, Hangzhou Sports Bureau, Zhejiang Huanglong Sports Center, Zhejiang Basketball Association, Xihu District Culture and Radio It is co-organized by the Tourism and Sports Bureau, Hangzhou West Lake Culture and Sports Exhibition Co., Ltd. and other units. The event lasted for 5 days (November 10th – November 14th), with more than 200 athletes from 14 teams participating.
This competition has special age requirements for contestants, who must be 45 years old. Therefore, many contestants bring their grandchildren to participate. It is understood that such regulations are intended to achieve “universal participation” and also reflect the inheritance of the concept of national fitness. Mao Genhong, deputy director of the Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau, said that the fact that this event can be held simultaneously at the Huanglong Sports Center and the Xihu District Gymnasium is not only a dissemination and promotion of basketball culture, but also a powerful promotion of the further popularization of basketball projects in national fitness.
It is worth mentioning that the West Lake Stadium, the venue for this competition, will use this national competition to usher in its first show in Hangzhou after an absence of five years. It also marks that this stadium by the West Lake will return to the life circle of Hangzhou people.
