This is how Norte de Santander did in the first National Youth Games

In the Coffee Axis, Norte de Santander completed the first edition of the National Youth Games reaching a total of 24 medals in artistic gymnastics, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, speed skating, boxing, archery, rugby and athletics.

In total, four golds, eight silvers and twelve bronzes were achieved, leaving the red and black delegation in box 15 among 29 delegations.

The balance is acceptable due to the diversity of disciplines in which the podium was reached. A year ago, in the absolute National Games, the department won 16 medals and was 14th in the table, but only achieved in three sports: artistic gymnastics, chess and athletics.

Artistic gymnastics, the best discipline in the department

Once again, artistic gymnastics proved to be the discipline that gives the most results to Norte de Santander. The work of Jairo Ruiz with his group of assistant coaches in the men’s branch, and Adriana Ángel and Roberto León In women, it was reflected in the achievement of a total of 12 medals, 50% of those achieved.

In men, the main protagonist was Yan Dairon Zabala, being the most winning athlete in the department with six medals.
