Rosy Oktavia Pancasari started playing badminton in Surabaya in 2005. She was 11 years old.

« Mon father was marathon runner. One day, he saw our neighbor playing badminton outside and he thought it would be good for his children to do it. Now my two older brothers and my two sisters do it. The largest even an academy in Indonesia. It’s a very popular sport there,” says the young woman.

In 2013, with the help of her older sister, she moved to Chambly in the Hauts-de-France department. Then in 2014, she joined Mulhouse where she played doubles. But, above all, there is met his coach current: Julien Fuchs, former high-level player.

“He asked me to join the ASPTT in 2016,” continues the sportswoman.

“She had a very good technical base, but she lived on her bases, in a lower division at his level,” adds Julien Fuchs.

However, the champion did not rise to this level straight away. She passed a Dejps diploma to be a trainer, had several operations at the feet. It was only in 2021 that I spoke with my coach and told him that I wanted to get the points. »

” I was just after the first. When I learned it, it was complicated because I had really pushed my body. I had also cut myself off from my social life for two years,” confides Rosy Oktavia Pancasari.

Since then, she has bounced back. She passed French number 1 in the world rankings. Currently, she is preparing for world championships which will take place in August 2025, keeping in mind the 2028 Olympics.
