Clarke Schmidt was on track to have a big season when an injury took him out of the game for a couple of months. He finished the regular season with 16 starts in which he left an ERA of 2.85, a balance of 5-5, 93 strikeouts and just 30 walks in 85.1 innings pitched and in the first playoff series he did not look bad. Despite the punishment he received in the World Series, the New York organization has faith in the 28-year-old right-hander and will surely reserve a spot for him in the rotation for the 2025 season.
