The Sept-Îles Judo Academy was well represented at the Quebec Open which was held this weekend in Montreal. Three of its eleven athletes took their place on the podium.
Sara-Anne Beaudin, who now trains at the Boucherville Club and the National Center in Montreal, won bronze, in the under 63 kg category, in the U21 category, but also at the Senior level.
Among the U21s, the Septilienne started her tournament by winning the third in the world ranking (U21), the American Emily Daniela Jaspe.
The Quebec Open is tougher than the Canadian Championships with the presence of judokas, notably from the United States, Brazil and New Zealand.
Leiya Chiasson also performed well at the Quebec Open, winning the silver medal in the U16, minus 57 kg, in addition to a seventh position in the U18 for the same weight category.
As for Medric Duguay, he climbed to the third step of the podium in the U14, less 46 kg.
Sara-Anne Beaudin will be at the Continental Cup which is being held in Montreal on Thursday. She will fight in the U18s for the first day and in the U21s on Friday. This will be his last international competition in U18.
For other judokas from the Sept-Îles Judo Academy, a regional competition is scheduled for Saturday, November 16 in Baie-Comeau.
