With a total of four finals in four kata and three medals, the DJB kata athletes completed a very successful competition season and world championship.
Our European champions started with the Nage no kata Immo and Hendrik Schmidt. This year we not only had to compete against the international competition, but also against the new and yet very slippery mats, which caused some problems for one or two teams at this World Cup. With a very concentrated performance, the two DJB starters secured their first World Cup medal with bronze.
Bronze was also won Jennifer Frey und Sebastian Bergmann in the Kodokan Goshin jutsu. After a strong preliminary round and starting directly behind the Japanese in the final, both were able to convince the judges with their dynamic kata and their precise attacks and were rewarded with bronze for their performance in the final ranking.
The third medal of the World Championships came in the Ju no kata Wolfgang Dax-Romswinkel and Ulla Loosenwho secured their fifth World Cup title with their strong performances in the preliminary and final rounds.
As the fourth DJB team in the final round, Miriam Sikora and Christian Steinert took fifth place in the Katame no Kata this year after winning silver at the World Championships last year.
In addition to further fourth places in the respective preliminary rounds, the DJB kata team completed a very successful competition season.
