The badminton players from the Osterholz district were able to win three titles at the Weser-Ems and Lüneburg district championships in Melle near Osnabrück. Both Mathias Bergolte (TSV Wallhöfen) and Arndt Petersen (ASV Ihlpohl) in the O50 age group and Sven Jagusch (TV Schwanewede) with his new doubles partner Michael Mense (SVC Wilhelmshaven) in the O55 ultimately celebrated tournament victory in their doubles competition.
The duo Bergolte/Petersen followed up a confident two-set win with a hard-fought, but ultimately safe, three-set victory. Jagusch/Mense, however, made it much more exciting. In the first game it was 22:24, 21:16 and 21:16 over the full distance, as was the case in the second. After 21:17, 17:21 and 21:16 the victory was certain. “We really harmonized very well,” said Sven Jagusch, happy about the successful performance.
And Günter Müller (TSV Wallhöfen) also had every reason to celebrate with his doubles partner Dirk Hartwig (ASC Cranz-Estebrügge) in the O65. The duo deservedly prevailed in their group of four with three wins, including two confident two-set wins. Tanja Assmus (TSV Wallhöfen) and her partner Eva Neudeck (BV Verden) played their way to the final in the women’s doubles (35/40+50), but had to accept a two-set defeat.
In the mixed doubles O55, Sven Jagusch competed for the first time with Maren Nitz (SC Wildeshausen). After an opening defeat and a subsequent two-set win, it was still enough for fifth place. The individual competitions had already taken place the day before. There, Wallhöfen’s Günter Müller achieved third place in the O65.
