Tierra del Fuego completed its participation in the Araucanía Binational Games | Sur54.com

The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of Sports Matías Runin, who accompanied the Fuegian athletes during the five days of competition, and who also received the trophy for this edition of the Games. A closing ceremony was also held in Punta Arenas.

The Tierra del Fuego delegation totaled 79 points and finished in twelfth place, while the champion of this edition was once again Río Negro and became the first five-time champion of Araucanía.

Among the most notable performances, It is worth mentioning the 5 medals that the Athletics delegation achieved and the 6 Judo medals, in addition to the valuable fifth place of the Women’s Volleyball Team.

In the overall summary, the women’s Judo team finished in third place with a great task, while the men finished in eighth place in the final qualifier.

For its part, Fuegian Athletics had an outstanding performance with many athletes achieving good performances, however the main standard bearer was the talented Renata Godoy, who won three gold medals.

The women’s Athletics team managed to finish fifth in the final qualifier, accumulating 12 points, while the men finished tenth with 4 points.

Regarding team sports, the team with the best performance was women’s volleyball, achieving fifth place. The men’s volleyball team was twelfth. In soccer, the men finished ninth and the women’s team closed the tournament in eighth place.

Also in basketball, the men finished eighth and the women placed 13th.

In cycling and swimming, the teams were made up of very young athletes with little experience, and their performances were not enough to be on the podium, however, both women and men in swimming achieved 4 points in each branch.
