13:59 | The Tierra del Fuego delegation will be present in the Chilean region of Aysén to participate in the XXXI edition of the “Binational Games of Araucanía“, which will take place in three venues from November 10 to 16.
Under the sponsorship and organization of the Sports Secretariat of the provincial government, Fuegians will participate in the disciplines: football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, swimming, cycling and judo, all with teams in both branches.
For the second time, Aysén will host the contest that annually brings together more than two thousand athletes from Patagonia and the regions of southern Chile in alternative venues in Chile and Argentina.
The venues for this occasion will be: Coyhaique: judo (women’s and men’s), volleyball (women’s and men’s) and athletics (women’s and men’s). Aysén: swimming (female and male), and basketball (female and male), Punta Arenas: soccer (female and male), and cycling (female and male).
The competition will begin on Monday, November 11, but today, Sunday, will be the time for accreditations, while, unlike other editions, the Opening Ceremony will be the same Monday, at 8:00 p.m., at the Coyhaique regional gym. . The official activity will culminate on Saturday, November 16 with the finals in the respective disciplines.
It is worth remembering that last year, the “Araucanía Binational Games” took place in the province of Rio Negro and the winner of the general classification was precisely the homeowner with 214 points, while second was Chubut (182) and third La Pampa finished (167), in an edition where the Fuegians finished ninth and managed to get 18 medals, with a good performance in judo and athletics.
