The guitarist talks about the importance of seeing Maiden in the Hall Of Fame and compares Chris Cornell to a great pop star of the moment
Tom Morello has once again expressed all his doubts about what he considers the ‘biggest oversight in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame‘.
Il guitarist of Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave he is among the figures who are directly part of the board that decides Hall Of Fame nominations but this did not prevent him from making his voice heard, if he disagreed with the choices made.

Tom Morello and the importance of Maiden in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Tom Morello he has been in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for about ten years now with the right to vote for the selection of new nominees and says he has a personal battle on the matter.
Interviewed by Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM, the Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave guitarist explained his theory on why some of the names chosen for the Hall Of Fame are wrong.
“If you are a Little League player, your dream is to become a baseball player who can end up, at the end of your career, in the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Today many young rock guitarists have no respect for this institution because none of their favorite bands is part of it.”
That’s why, he says, his point is that the Hall Of fame should be It’s a place where everyone who loves rock’n’roll wants to be because their heroes are there. Now it’s not like that.’
After explaining his point of view to Jon Landau, manager of Springsteen and between Rockhall’s most influential people, Morello was accepted within the board, contributing to the introduction of names such as MC5 and Judas Priest.
However, the guitarist’s biggest concern concerns another great English metal band.
“I will go crazy if I don’t get Iron Maiden in. Even though there are many who deserve it, for me the failure to induct Maiden is one of the biggest mistakes of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame”he explained Morello.
“Iron Maiden is the touchstone for metal bands and they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame”he continued. “I know Bruce Dickinson doesn’t care but I, as a fan, do. I really care, so I will do everything in my power, however limited my influence, to get them into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Hunger”.

The similarities between Post-Malone and Chris Cornell
At another point in the interview, Morello it’s about another great one character excluded from the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame, namely Chris Cornell which was never considered with Soundgarden.
The guitarist, who collaborated with Cornell within Audioslave, provided a surprising comparison between the late singer-songwriter who passed away in 2017 and one of the most popular American stars of recent years.
Speaking about the many artists he has collaborated with, Morello revealed that he has wrote a song with Post Malone but that he did not complete it in order to publish it.
“We made a song that, to my ears, sounds a bit like Beat It for Michael Jackson,” he said of the song on which he began working six years agoto. “Smack it, it’s a great rock song.”
Speaking about the writing process with Posty, Morello said he sees similarities between the way he works and that of Chris Cornell.
“When we wrote about Chris, we’d give him music – whether it was a simple chord progression like on ‘I Am The Highway’ or heavier, more complicated riffs – and he’d immediately come back with incredible melodies. We’d record them and he’d add to them. the words. And that’s exactly the way Post Malone works that he writes great melodies, amazing, catchy melodies, hits, one after the other. That’s one thing the two of them have in common.”
