Another exciting round of the country’s best badminton league is on the doorstep on Tuesday evening. This round offers nothing less than a showdown between the number one and two in the series, all while the teams in the relegation battle can take important points against each other.
One matchup in particular stands out when you look down the list of exciting team matches in the sixth round of the season. In Arena Nord in Frederikshavn, 2023’s champions from Vendsyssel take on last year’s finalists from Skovshoved. Last year, the two big teams collided on Krøyersvej north of Copenhagen, and here the home team from Skovshoved was able to emerge victorious from that clash with a 6-3 victory, where six of the nine games had to be decided in three sets. Vendsyssel must seek revenge in an attempt to extend the lead further at the top of the table.

At the other end of Denmark’s best badminton league, we find a showdown between the Copenhagen club Gentofte and the promotion from North Jutland in Aalborg Triton. The latter take on the visiting Copenhageners at home in the Paris of the North in an attempt to pick up their first win of the season. It has not been an easy life in the league for Aalborg Triton, who have only picked up two points. Gentofte has taken a single win in the first five rounds, and with a win can create further distance from the relegation zone.
In the middle of the table, another deadly duel awaits between Solrød Strand and RSL Odense OBK. At the time of writing, Solrød Strand is in fifth place, but only two points from the famous fourth place, which gives a ticket to the play-offs. In sixth place we find the traditional club from Funen, which also has fourth place within reach. A win would do wonders for both clubs. Last season’s match ended 5-4 to the Fynbos at home in Odense.

Team Skælskør-Slagelse got off to a great start with victories in the second and third round of play, but from there it has been a sluggish existence for the Zealand big team. They meet the big surprise of the season at home from Copenhagen’s Westsign in Hvidovre. Hvidovre took the league by storm last year, when they finished in sixth place as promoters and beat several of the league’s top teams during the season. This year they have so far topped last year’s great performances by playing their way to a provisional fourth place, a position they want to hold on to and further develop to ensure access to the playoffs. The match last season between the two teams from the devil’s island ended 5-4 in Hvidovre’s favour.
If you drive out of the capital in a northerly direction on the Hillerød motorway, you can take the exit towards Værløse off Kollekollevej, and we would advise all badminton fans in the vicinity to do so on Tuesday evening, because not far from the exit in the beautiful Furesø is the Værløsehallerne, and this is where Værløse makes its home. against last year’s champions from Højbjerg Via/biler. The star-studded team from Aarhus takes a trip to Greater Copenhagen in the pursuit of regaining the title from May. Værløse must try to put a stick in the wheel of the champions, who have so far been superb with five victories in as many matches. Værløse, on the other hand, have had a different difficult season, where they have not yet succeeded in winning a team match, maybe Tuesday night will be the first?
