The Toronto Raptors suffered their fourth away defeat of the current NBA season on Wednesday evening (local time).
The Canadians lost 107:122 to the Sacramento Kings in their second duel within 96 hours. Jakob Pöltl scored ten points, grabbed eight rebounds, gave four assists and recorded two steals in 34:37 minutes of playing time.
Weak final quarter
After the 131:128 win after overtime on Saturday in front of their home crowd, the Raptors also had a good chance of their first away win in Sacramento. However, a weak final quarter with 14:33 dashed all hopes. RJ Barrett scored 23 points for Toronto, while DeMar DeRozan, a long-time teammate of Pöltl, emerged as the game’s top scorer with 27 points. Domantas Sabonis, who like the Viennese was selected in the NBA draft in 2016, recorded a triple-double with 17 points, eleven rebounds and 13 assists.
The Raptors will play away at the LA Clippers on Saturday. The upcoming opponent previously beat the Philadelphia 76ers 110:98. The most successful point collector was Norman Powell, a former Raptors player, with 26 points.
Seven wins in a row
The Cleveland Cavaliers remain unstoppable: The NBA leaders celebrated their ninth success in a row with a 131:122 win at the New Orleans Pelicans. Donovan Mitchell contributed 29 points in the win. The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered their first defeat after seven wins in a row and narrowly lost to the Denver Nuggets 122:124. Nikola Jokic led the Colorado team with an impressive triple-double (23 points, 20 rebounds, 16 assists), while Russell Westbrook was the game’s best scorer with 29 points.
