Successful double match day in the 2nd Bundesliga South for TSV Freystadt. TSV won 4-3 against second-placed TSV Neuhausen-Nymphenburg and achieved another away win against league leaders TuS Geretsried with the same result.
TSV team boss Stephan Pistorius: “We arrived as an outsider, back in Freystadt with two wins and four points – that really surprised our opponents and ourselves.” The TSV improved to third place in the table, three points behind leaders Geretsried .
Best individual player in the league
In Saturday’s game against first division relegated Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, the Freystädters met Munich, whose team included the Israeli top player and four-time Olympic participant Misha Silbermann – according to general assessments, the best individual player in the league.
While Freystadt had to do without Andreas Pistorius, Neuhausen was without Anna Mejikovskiy, the reigning German runner-up in doubles. Both had to cancel due to illness.
The top encounter began with the first men’s doubles, which went to Neuhausen in three sets. Moritz Miller replaced Andreas Pistorius alongside Viktor Petrovic. It was difficult for both of them to get into the game, but they came close to winning the set in the third set. But the resistance came too late and they lost the set and game 11:13 to Tobias Wadenka and Justin Seibel.

It was very close in the women’s doubles with a happy outcome for Freystadt. In the deciding set with the score at 11:10, Ella Neve and Aurelia Wulandoko converted the match point. The decision in the second men’s doubles was also made in the deciding set. And again TSV had better nerves in the crucial phase. Auditya Hidayat and Siddesh Hudekar defeated the favorites Misha Silbermann and Philip Bussler with 11:8.
When Ella Neve won the women’s singles in three sets, TSV surprisingly led 3-1. In the top singles, Freystadt’s number one, Viktor Petrovic, played a great game against Misha Silbermann (number 66 in the world rankings). The badminton professional from Israel won 11:8, 12:10 and 11:4.
After the mixed doubles went to Munich, the second men’s singles had to decide whether to win or lose. In an exciting game, Auditya Hidayat from Freystadt won against Justin Seibel and secured the final score of 4:3 for TSV.
On Sunday, TSV met league leaders TuS Geretsried. The Upper Bavarians had to do without their best lady, former national player Ann-Kathrin Spöri, against Freystadt. The Freystadt women took advantage of the chance to meet a weakened Geretsried women’s team.
Like the day before, the women’s doubles with Ella Neve and Katharina Rudert went into the deciding set and again the decision was made for TSV. The women’s singles was also a clear matter for Ella Neve. She won easily in three sets.
Pistorius changed
In the first men’s doubles against Olli Roth and Kevin Feibicke, Pistorius made a change. Jannik Czerny played for Moritz Miller together with Viktor Petrovic. Both were able to win a set, but ultimately had no chance against Geretsried. The third point for Freystadt came from the second doubles with Auditya Hidayat and Siddesh Hudekar, while the mixed doubles Aurelia Wulandoko and Auditya Hidayat lost to Upper Bavaria.
In the first men’s singles there was a duel between Viktor Petrovic and Kevin Feibicke, both of whom are among the best individual players in the 2nd Bundesliga. Petrovic won 5:11, 13:11, 11:4 and 11:8. The second men’s singles was hotly contested. After winning two sets and leading 9:7 in the third set, Moritz Miller had to give up the game in five sets. Nevertheless, the joy about the unexpected victory against the league leaders at TSV Freystadt was huge.
