As “The Times” and “Sky Sport” report, the American entrepreneur John Textor wants to sell his shares in Crystal Palace. Specifically, it’s about 45%, which is managed by Eagle Football. Eagle Football holds shares in several football clubs, including Olympique Lyon from France and RWD Molenbeek from Belgium.
According to media reports, a group around the two Palace fans Zechariah Janjua and Navshir Jaffer currently has the best chance of taking over the shares. But there should still be other interested parties. The sale of the 45 percent stake could be fixed for around 200 million British pounds (around 239 million euros).
Talks about joining Everton
The group around Janjua and Jaffer will be advised by Keith Harris. According to The Times, Harris has already played a role in the takeovers of Aston Villa, West Ham United and Manchester City.
Eagle Football’s Textor is the largest shareholder in Crystal Palace, but has the same voting rights as “smaller” major shareholders. That’s why the American is said to want to sell his shares.
Another reason for the sale: Textor is said to want to join Everton. To do this, he has to leave Crystal Palace, as the same person is not allowed to own different shares in rival Premier League clubs. However, Textor has not yet bought any shares in the Toffees, according to The Times.
