In ten days, Dakar (Senegal) will host the last Open judo tournament on the continent for this year. This event will see the participation of representatives from 16 countries, including Madagascar. For the first time, two Malagasy judokas will appear on this international scene: Idealisoa Ramarosata (-52 kg) and Roumaica Benandro (-57 kg).
Roumaica Benandro, aged 20, will participate in her second major African tournament as an individual. She had already caused a sensation during the African Cadet Championships in 2023, where she won the bronze medal. As for Idealisoa Ramarosata, she also shone on the continental scene in 2023, finishing in fifth place in the Junior category.
The Malagasy Judo Federation (FMJ) took the bold decision to upgrade these two talented judokas, by registering them in the senior category for this Open. However, before facing the seniors, they will line up in the Junior category on November 21, a final step before measuring themselves against the best in their new category.
This tournament represents a golden opportunity for the two Malagasy fighters to prove their worth. For Roumaica and Idealisoa, this poster allows them to accumulate experiences and climb the ranks of African and world judo.
