NBA News: After referee criticism: Doc Rivers fined

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has been fined $25,000 by the NBA. Rivers was dissatisfied with the referees’ performance after the loss against the Charlotte Hornets: “The last play was a bad decision by the referee. This is now the second game in a row in which a wrong decision was made on the final play.”

With only one point behind, Hornets guard LaMelo Ball went down a few seconds before the end. Multiple replays failed to identify contact as the cause, but the referees ruled a foul against Giannis Antetokounmpo and two free throws for Ball, which he converted for the win. The referee team later made it clear that Rivers was correct in his assessment, but because of his publicly expressed criticism, he still has to pay.
