U19 European Championship: DBV team clearly wins against Ireland

Second game, second win at the 2024 European Junior Team Championships in Ibiza (Spain). The young DBV team confidently defeated Ireland 5-0 in the second group game on Wednesday. Only in the women’s singles did they lose a set.

The points for the DBV team were won by Danial Marzuan/Shreya Hochscheid in the mixed doubles and Luis Pongratz and Gloria Poluektov in the individual disciplines. The two doubles Danial Marzuan/Mark Niemann and Shreya Hochscheid/Marie Sophie Stern then increased the final score to 5-0 with two clear victories.

“It was clear to us in advance that we were clearly superior to the Irish in the double disciplines. And our athletes were able to transfer their superiority to the playing field. But Luis and Gloria also delivered convincing performances in the individual disciplines. It was another great team performance today, there was an excellent atmosphere in the stands from our players who weren’t in action today. We want to win the last group game tomorrow and then we’ll wait for the draw for the quarter-finals “, says DBV assistant national coach Dirk Nötzel to badminton.de.

In the final group game, the team from Portugal awaits the German team on Thursday (from 09:30 CET).
