PACHUCA DE SOTO, 06 NOV /NEWS HIDALGO/.- In an atmosphere full of hubbub and enthusiasm, the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) brought together the university community at the “Carlos Martínez Balmori” Poliforum to carry out the long-awaited Garza de Plata 2024 Award Ceremony to recognize and strengthen the sports activities that the highest house of studies offers to the students.
This university party began with the lighting of the cauldron, by Emiliano Rubio Martínez, third semester student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the UAEH and national judo champion at the 2024 Universiade, who will represent Mexico at the Pan American Games of the International University Sports Federation (FISU América), which will take place from November 5 to 14 in Cali, Colombia.
During the closing ceremony, representing the rector of the UAEH, Octavio Castillo Acosta, the coordinator of the Cultural Extension Division, Marco Antonio Alfaro Morales, reiterated that for the University all the talent that the winners of this edition have, while inviting the university community to continue reaping more triumphs.
For his part, Armando Zunzunegui Escamilla, director of Sports Promotion at the UAEH, mentioned that the Autonomous University of Hidalgo is visible internationally thanks to its students, because without their achievements, this recognition would not be possible. Likewise, he thanked and highlighted the valuable work of the extension workers, as well as coaches, who, together with the Garza community, have managed to position the UAEH as the best university in the state and one of the 10 best in the country.
When using his voice, the fifth semester student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities (ICSHu), Noé Ramos Santos commented that, for this occasion, the university fire that illuminated the four Hidalgo regions that host this The sporting event was supposed to go out, however, it will burn again next year.
In this sports gala, in addition to awarding 16 medals to the winners of the different sports competitions in disciplines such as soccer, basketball, among others, the Number 1 Preparatory School was honored, as well as the Institute of Basic Sciences and Engineering ( ICBI) and ICHSu for their outstanding participation. This closing event featured special participation, such as basketball demonstrations, a group of cheerleaders, as well as floreadores and charro skirmishes.
Through this award ceremony, the UAEH not only recognizes the achievements made in the competitions, but also the discipline, perseverance and teamwork demonstrated by the students throughout the year. Therefore, we are proud to be able to highlight Garza students who, with passion and dedication, have left their mark on each challenge, inspiring our entire university community.
