The ULSA women’s tennis team wrote its name in gold letters at the XXIX Lasallian Sports Games by winning the team gold medal in the tennis discipline, in an event held in Ciudad Victoria Tamaulipas.
The Lasallian Sports Games are an annual event that brings together Lasallian institutions from all over Mexico in a competition that promotes unity and sportsmanship. In this edition, the women’s tennis team of the La Salle University of Chihuahua achieved a historic milestone, by being crowned champions in category A, the highest category.
One of the most outstanding moments of the tournament was the exceptional performance of Fátima Daniela Núñez Chagoya, who shone throughout the championship, being the key piece for her team to achieve the desired first place.
The player, who occupies the number 1 position in the ULSA Chihuahua, was in charge of winning her matches in the first round, second round and final, thus securing the crucial points to obtain the gold medal.
On the opening day, ULSA Chihuahua easily beat the Cuernavaca squad, where Fátima Núñez was unstoppable in the singles category, dominating her match with a 6/0 – 6/0, Aiko Coballasy also showed her quality by winning 6/0 – 6/1 and in the doubles the duo composed of Emma Fuentes and Nicole Pérez closed the first round with a flourish, crushing their opponents with an 8/1.
The next challenge was against the Morelia team, which put up a tighter fight, but still failed to stop the triumphant march of the ULSA players, once again: Fátima Núñez, once again, was the protagonist, winning easily 6/0 – 6/0, the key point to ensure victory in this round came with the doubles match, where Aiko Coballasy and Fátima Núñez defeated their rivals by 6/3 – 6/0.
In the third round, the Cancun team was no match for the Chihuahua team, demonstrating its absolute dominance in the tournament. With the victory, the ULSA Chihuahua team prepared for the grand final, where it would face Morelia again for the medal. of gold at stake.
In the grand final it was consecrated with a historic victory where the first team point, the number racket of the ULSA Chihuahua, Fátima Núñez, shone again, achieving another resounding victory by 6/0 – 6/0, but the situation was equalized with the defeat of Aiko Coballasy defining the gold medal in the doubles.
In a decisive duel for gold, the team of Fátima Núñez and Emma Fuentes closed with a flourish by winning 6/1 – 6/3, which gave ULSA Chihuahua the title and the gold medal.
