“Today I truly saw a beautiful Italy impose itself on the rest of Europe –said the Italian coach Francesco Bruyere– I saw a lot of determination and a lot of good technique, seasoned with an unforgettable judo sensitivity which is certainly the result of the good work they do every day. For this reason I can only congratulate all these guys, their teachers and their clubs, well done everyone.”
It was the same Bruyerein fact, to anticipate at the departure for Pila that this is a “very competitive team with great chances of a medal” and the medals immediately arrived numerous, with a compelling all-Italian final in the 66 kg, two Italians on the podium of the 48 kg and again with the Avanzato sisters, both with a medal around their necks.
“I’m really happy with how this race went –commented Asia Avanzato– I got on the tatami focused and determined. Match after match I became more and more aware of my potential, I’m very sorry for the semi-final because I felt capable of winning and being able to go and fight in the final for the gold. Despite this, I am proud of myself and how I faced this race, I will continue to work consistently to achieve bigger goals. I thank the Fiamme Gialle sports group which allows me to grow every day and which is helping me to realize all my dreams, I thank my family and my boyfriend Lorenzo, who was close to me throughout the race and who supports and tolerates me constantly.”
“The goal today was obviously the gold medal –said Giulia Ghiglione– so this silver leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Despite this, I am happy with how I managed the race and the meetings. I am convinced that I am on the right path and that this result will be a springboard for next year. I thank my coach Pierangelo who was with me today, Akiyama Settimo and all the people who support me every day, without them I wouldn’t be here!”.
