With a 4:3 home win against BV Mülheim 2, badminton second division team Union Lüdinghausen 2 scored important points for staying in the league at the weekend. Union team captain Jan Kemper says in an interview why the promoted team is on target so far and gives an outlook on the last games of the first half of the season.
The Mülheimers got their second point of the season with the 3:4. Did you imagine the game against the bottom team to be easier?
Kemper: No, we are very happy that we won. Everything was fine. Despite being last in the table, Mülheim has a strong team. It was important for us that we got out of the relegation places with a win and were now two points ahead of 1. CfB Köln.
Now, at the end of the second half of the season, there is a double game day on December 14th and 15th at fourth-placed Refrath 2 and seventh-placed Beuel 2…
Kemper: These will be two difficult games. It would be nice if we could get a point from this weekend.
Are you satisfied with how the season has gone so far?
Kemper: We can be very satisfied. In contrast to other teams, we did not invest heavily in strengthening ourselves before the season. We started the second Bundesliga with almost the same team from the promotion season, with Marvin Schmidt and Stina Vrielmann we only have two new additions to the team. Nevertheless, we were able to play a good first half of the season.
