[UtsunomiyaBrex[UtsunomiyaBrex]Close look at Wataru Murakishi’s workout in preparation for the coming day (bottom)
This is the second installment of a series that closely follows Wataru Murakishi’s (27) workouts on his voluntary practice day, as well as his state of mind and future outlook. While he revealed his deep feelings about the current situation where he has not been able to get more playing time, he also expressed his gratitude for the consideration of his teammates and told us that he is conscious of contributing to the team in ways other than playing. Of course, things can’t stay this way. He revealed that he is thinking about how to climb up and prepare for that time. (The interview was conducted on October 29th)

“I think the only way to get results is through practice.”
After about two hours of workout and weight training, we lined up chairs in a corner of the sub-arena of Nikkan Arena Tochigi and began the interview.
If we were interviewing after a team practice as in the past, it would be lively with the voices of the players who remained practicing individually and the sound of the ball bouncing, but since it was an independent practice day, there were only a few staff members in the arena. . I felt that Murakishi’s feelings and emotional turmoil in response to my questions were clearly conveyed.
-When you are not getting enough playing time in games, do you think about showing off your skills during team practice?
Yes, I think we have no choice but to practice and get results. In terms of offense, I’m more conscious of how to make decisions with the best chance of making plays that the team creates, rather than going all out and being selfish. When it comes to defense and rebounding, I can increase my intensity at my discretion, and I think that’s what’s needed, so I’m doing it with energy.
-When I interviewed you in July, you said that you wanted to be able to create your own set offense quickly.
I think the coaches are thinking a lot about how to use this player when they let him out because he is good at this play. However, as of now, I don’t have a particularly high level of skill compared to other Brex players, so I don’t have my own set offense yet. I am thinking about how to promote myself within the tactics given to the team.
-Are there any differences in what the coaching staff is asking you to do between last season and this season?
We have the same goal (league championship) and the members are the same, so I don’t think there will be much difference. Kevin has said that he wants to play faster-tempo basketball than last season, and has said from the beginning of the season that he wants to shoot more aggressively and increase the strength of his defense. The foundation of the standard is the same as last season, but I think we will execute more strongly and increase the intensity.
-What has Head Coach Braswell said to you this season?
