Varese Basketball is happy to announce the hiring of Alexander Trent Tyus, a center born in 1988 who will wear the red and white jersey until the end of the season. Tyus is a player with great international experience, gifted with leadership and capable of imposing his physique both in attack and, above all, in defense. For him, this is the second Italian experience in his career, but behind him he has many years played in the European championships, seasoned with over 200 appearances in the Euroleague, a competition he won in 2014 wearing the Maccabi Tel Aviv jersey.
Career
Trained at the University of Florida, Tyus made his professional debut in the 2011-2012 season in Israel with the Maccabi Ashdod shirt and then moved the following year to Italy, to Cantù, where he also had the opportunity to make his debut in the Euroleague . The good figures recorded in the LBA (9.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1 blocked shot on average per lace), topped off by the victory in the Italian Super Cup, took him back to Israel in 2013-2014, where he wore the Maccabi Tel Aviv jersey for two seasons, becoming a point of reference for the yellow and blue both on national territory (victory of a championship and two Israeli Cups) and in Europe, which culminates with the success in the Euroleague in 2014. With Maccabi he will play another two-year period between 2017 and 2019 (in between the “Turkish” experiences with Efes and Galatasaray), before moving to Russia to UNICS Kazan (2019-2020) and returning to Galatasaray (2020-2021), a team he left in December for Real Madrid white tank top. After another year in Turkey, this time with the Pinar Karsiyaka shirt, Tyus becomes a protagonist in France with ASVEL, where he plays his last season in the Euroleague (5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds) before a new return to Russia (Runa Moscow) and Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem).Alex Tyus has held an Israeli passport since 2012, the national team with which he also played Eurobasket 2013.
