Simon Thern’s goal against BP laid the foundation for Värnamo‘s incredibly important odd-goal win.
After the game, the midfielder was in tears.
– It is clear that it can be an important goal in the end, says Thern in Max.
Before the meeting at Grimsta IP, Värnamo was on the same score as Kalmar (27) with one less game played.
Then Simon Thern secured a lead-heavy victory for the away team in stoppage time.
The midfielder was in a finishing mood and hit the crossbar at the start of the match.
After great dominance by Värnamo in the first half, Thern tested from distance again in the 36th minute – and the shot went over the post and in.
– I’ve probably had more finishes in this match than I’ve had in the whole year, he says at half-time.
Avoids direct relegation
The goal was the only one of the match and the 1–0 win means that Värnamo moves up to the qualification spot.
