The TV puck final was a battle between two of the tournament’s biggest talents.

An extension was required to be able to appoint Västergötland as champions.

– I don’t remember anything, says hat-trick scorer Moa Stridh in SVT.

Before the final, SVT expert Maria Rooth named Västergötland’s Moa Stridh the tournament’s MVP, and Södermanland’s Ebba Hesselvall the best forward in the TV puck on the girls’ side.

And they would turn out to be exactly the two who played the main roles in the finale.

Västergötland scored the first goal in the match and the puck then came from Stridh’s stick. But the joy was short-lived. Hesselvall did not want to be worse, but responded by scoring not one, but two goals.

Stridh equalized

She was then helped by teammate Agnes Källström to further extend the lead and Södermanland led 3–1 after one period.

– Fantastic feeling. You were a bit nervous but we tried to think that they were just a normal match. We will just continue, no carelessness and keep this lead the whole match, says Hesselvall in SVT.

In the second period, however, it was rather Västergötland and Stridh that showed their qualities. Then she offered two goals – the latter of which equaled the score at 3-3.

– She is so skilled. It’s hockey candy, says expert Rooth about the equalizing goal.

Only in extra time could the teams be separated. There were only a few seconds left to play in 3 against 3 when Västergötland scored the decisive goal.

– I can’t put it into words. It’s just so fucking nice that it goes in, says team captain Lova Torsson, who scored the winning goal, 4–3.

“Dreamed about it since I was two”

The victory was celebrated with a traditional TV puck drop, where several players had tears in their eyes.

– This is what you’ve dreamed of since you were two, so it’s absolutely incredible, says Stridh after the match.

Ebba Hesselvall was considerably less happy when she was interviewed on the ice.

– It’s really boring. We had the match at the beginning but then we lose it completely. We stop playing and just slide around and let Moa get by, she says.

On the boys’ side, Västerbotten and Småland meet in the final. It is also played on Sunday.
