Vendée Globe: what pushes sailors to take on this crazy challenge?

Every four years, the Vendée Globe makes the public dream and attracts sailing enthusiasts. This race, nicknamed the Everest of the seas, brings together for its 10th edition, 40 skippers who set off on November 10, 2024, for a solo round-the-world trip, non-stop and without assistance. But what pushes them to face loneliness, fatigue and dangers? Back from Les Sables-d’Olonne, the town of departure, Thomas de Saint-Leger, journalist in the RFI sports department, tells what he saw and perceived of this incredible challenge.
