An absolute phenomenon in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama attracts attention with his exceptional physique. As we can imagine, however, the latter represents a challenge for the French pivot, as he confided a few weeks ago.
It’s no secret: athletic freaks cause a certain fascination in the world of sport. But even among them, the case of Victor Wembanyama is pretty special. We have rarely seen a pivot move and play like the Spurs one, and even less so with such an incredible build.
As a reminder, the Frenchman measures no less than 2m24 and has a wingspan of… 2m44, a record NBA Moreover. In short, an extra-terrestrial of the courts who must therefore deal with everyday challenges quite different from those of ordinary mortals. Asked by the Youtube channel Real Life a few weeks ago, the reigning Rookie of the Year spoke openly on the subject:

I can’t pretend I have a normal life either. I’m really in a cocoon, in a bubble. The most difficult thing, I would say, is people’s repetitive reactions. It may be the first time they’ve seen someone over 2m15, but for me it’s the hundredth time someone’s done that to me today. A simple look or a simple expression…
We can say it, the big man from San Antonio is truly extraordinary. Add to that its very advanced technical repertoire for an interior and it is no longer surprising that its nickname is now “The Alien”, which its equipment supplier Nike never fails to highlight. That’s good, it seems that Wemby particularly appreciates this nickname, because it would correspond perfectly to his ambitions:
It’s true that it’s a nickname that I like because it evokes something different from what we know, from another world and it’s a bit… there you go, the objective of creating something something new. And also originality, it’s something that I’m constantly looking for in my life so I like it. I hope that one day it will really suit me 100%.
It’s not easy to live day to day when you measure 2m24 and have a wingspan of 2m44. Victor Wembanyama must also manage such a crazy build on the NBA floors… Fortunately for her and France, the Spurs nugget is doing wonderfully.
