Legendary San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich suffered a “mild stroke” in early November, but is expected to recover quickly, the NBA franchise announced Wednesday.

Aged 75, Popovich had missed his team’s last six games, but no information had been released on his state of health.

On Wednesday, San Antonio announced that he suffered a stroke on November 2 in the San Antonio arena, before a home victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
His assistant Mitch Johnson took charge of the team during his absence.

The franchise specifies that no date has been set for the return to the bench of the legendary coach, who led the Spurs to five NBA titles in 29 seasons. He holds the absolute record for victories in the NBA with 1,390 matches won in the regular season and 170 in the play-offs.
