MESTRE (Venice) – At the Pala Taliercio in Mestre Reggiana Basketball wins two fundamental points on the pitch Reyer Venice winning 62-59 in a difficult, hard-fought match, which the red and whites deservedly won at the end of the games. The defenses had the best of it and it was the details that made the difference, also thanks to Venezia’s poor evening from the arc (2/27 from three points). Also thanks to Unahotels who, despite suffering from rebounds at times, brought home the victory. Before Cheatham, Then Burford and in the finale Winston contributed to the success.

The news
First quarter
Here are the duos: for Venezia Casarin, McGruder, Simms, Parks and Kabengele, while for Reggio Winston, Barford, Chillo, Cheatham and Gombauld. I start in total balance and with many errors even under the boards. At the moment the defenses are having the better of the attacks, who are struggling to find openings and comfortable shots. As a result the score remains low and at the siren the scoreboard reads 13-15.
Second quarter
Reyer starts better again with a 5-0 lead, but above all two fouls arrive for Faye and Winston. A positive Cheatham takes care of it with 8 points in a row to bring Unahotels back ahead. Neither team manages to escape and the maximum advantage for both was 3 points. The game continues to not be excellent, with many errors and turnovers which effectively leave the “status quo” in the match, with Reggio still ahead by 3 points with a minute and a half left in the quarter. It ends at long break at 28-31.
Third quarter
The games resume and in the quintets the only difference is Faye for Gombauld. An enterprising Burford scores 5 consecutively, bringing the score to 36 to 28 for Unahotels, with immediate suspension for coach Spahjia. Reyer tries to recover, but Gombauld gives her team some oxygen with a three-point play. We reach +9, but the half time ends 36-46, still a very low score.
Fourth bedroom
Everything to do again for the red and whites, because Venezia makes a 7-0 break, interrupted by two free throws from Winston, its first two points. Umana pushes to overtake, while Faye has to sit on the bench for her fourth foul. Reggio manages to hold a 4-point lead which becomes 7 thanks to Smith who from the arc forces the Venetian staff to suspend the game again, with less than 3 and a half minutes to play. Only one revolution left and it’s a tie again. Winston puts it from the center of the area, Umana makes a mistake, Gombauld wins the rebound, Winston is fouled, he scores one from free throws and with Gomauld’s block it ends 62 to 59 for UYnahotels.
