Friday, November 22, the Barsacais Judo Club experienced an exceptional moment by welcoming Cathy Arnaud, an emblematic figure of French judo. Double world champion, four-time European champion, Olympic bronze medalist and 8 black belte Dan, Cathy Arnaud marked the history of her sport and, for one evening, delighted young and old judokas from Barsac.
Born in 1963, Cathy Arnaud is a pioneer of women’s judo in France and around the world. At the height of her career in the 1980s and 1990s, she dominated the tatami mats with her talent, technique and determination. She remains today a source of inspiration for generations of judokas and continues to transmit the values of judo through interventions and classes in local clubs. In Barsac, she led two courses, one for young people and the other for adults, in an atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and respect.
Faithful to the values of judo, she was able to transmit her know-how and her dynamism to numerous members who came to share this unique moment. Her wise advice and inspiring teaching captivated the judokas, delighted to rub shoulders with a renowned champion.
Sharing of values
The evening concluded with a Spanish inn, bringing together all the members of the club. Cathy Arnaud, touched by the welcome, also paid tribute to Philippe Courtiade, vice-president of the club, who recently passed away. His words, full of respect and emotion, resonated with everyone.
For the president of the Judo Club, Coralie Courtiade, this evening will remain engraved in memories. “I am delighted that everyone was able to benefit from this exceptional meeting. Thanks to Cathy Arnaud for her travel, her energy, and her sharing of values. »
A great lesson in sport and humanity, which testifies to the family and united spirit of the Barsacais Judo Club.
