World tennis population exceeds 100 million for the first time[ITF 보고서]

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) published the Global Tennis Report on the 28th and announced that the world’s tennis population has surpassed 100 million for the first time in history.

According to the report, the world’s tennis population is 106 million, an increase of 25.6% compared to 5 years ago. In 2019, it was 84.4 million.

The country with the largest tennis population is the United States with 23.8 million people, and in terms of population ratio, the United Kingdom ranks first with 13.4% and Canada ranks second with 12.8%.

By region, the Asian continent has the largest number of people at 35.3 million, which is equivalent to 33.4% of the world’s tennis population.

There are 698,034 tennis courts around the world, of which 91.2% are outdoor courts, 55.3% are hard courts, and 25.7% are clay courts.

The report was prepared based on data submitted by associations from more than 199 countries around the world, from hobbyists to professional players. The report, first written five years ago, involved 195 countries.
