The current three-quarter coach of the Castres club will take over from Jeremy Davidson in a few months.
Xavier Sadourny, current three-quarter coach of Castres Olympique, will be promoted to head coach next season, replacing Jeremy Davidson, the president of the rugby club announced on Monday.
“Xavier Sadourny, who coaches three quarters, will continue to do so but is also promoted to head coach” and this “for a period of three years”announced Pierre-Yves Revol, the president of the CO, in a press release.
The contract of the current coach, former Irish international Jeremy Davidson, ends at the end of the season. He arrived at the head of the CO in February 2023, replacing Pierre-Henry Broncan when the club was poorly ranked.
Spitzer was on the shortlist
Castres finished 9th at the end of the 2022/2023 season, then 7th the following year. After nine days, he occupies the same place this season (five wins at home, four defeats away).
“The role is very demanding and tiring, especially in a club with a fairly stable workforce. So if there are risks of wear and tear, my responsibility is to detect them, analyze them and act accordingly in the interest of the club.justified Pierre-Yves Revol.
The president confirmed that he had “seriously” interested in the current Vannes coach Jean-Noël Spitzer, but had finally chosen an option “less broken”.
The club is currently looking for a forward coach, also indicated Pierre-Yves Revol.
