Young people from Aguascalientes were champions in the XV Mexican International 2024 – El Sol del Centro

With a great festive atmosphere and the overflowing excitement of the best badminton talents, the XV Mexican International 2024 concludedone of the most anticipated sporting events of the season, which was part of the activities for Calaveras, organized by the Sports Institute of the State of Aguascalientes.

This year, the tournament was held at the emblematic Morelos Sports Forum of the Benemérita Autonomous University of Aguascalientesa setting that proved to be the perfect place to host an event of this magnitude.

In the men’s individual category, Mark Alcalá won the gold medalshowing impressive skill and refined technique that allowed him to overcome his opponents. Luis Montoya, who also had a notable performance, took the silver medalwhile the bronzes went to Kevin Cordón and Víctor Lai, who, despite not having reached the final, demonstrated a high level of play.

In the women’s individual category, the Italian athlete Gianna Stiglich took first placeconsolidating her position as one of the best players on the international circuit. Nikte Sotomayor, from Guatemala, won silver, and the bronze medals went to the Peruvian Rafaela Munar and the Mexican Sabrina Solíswho gave everything on the field, leaving a great show for the public.

The tournament not only stood out in the individual categories, but also the doubles competitions turned out to be a special attraction. In the category of men’s doubles, the Guatemalan duo formed by Cristopher Martínez and Jonathan Solis was crowned champion, with impeccable team play. Yu-Yuan Chang (EE. UU.) and Wang Yen Pang (Taiwan) took the silver medal, while José Luis Granados and Antonio Ortizalso from Guatemala, and the Canadian couple Daniel Leung and Gurbaksh Singh Saini took bronze.


In the women’s doubles, the duo Mexican Romina Fregoso and Miriam Rodríguez excelled, taking the gold in an exciting final match. Cecilia Madera and Isabella Puente, also from Mexico, took the silver, while the Guatemalans Diana Corleto and Nikte Sotomayor, along with the Peruvians Fernanda and Rafaela Munar, took the bronzes.

The mixed doubles was another of the high points of the tournament, where The Mexican couple Luis Montoya and Miriam Rodríguez became championsbeating Cristopher Martínez and Diana Corleto from Guatemala, who took the silver. Bronzes went to Yu-Yuan Chang and Kateline Ngo from the USA, as well as Juan Torres and Mayté Macías from Mexico.
