Youth table tennis led by ‘Yoo Nam-gyu’s daughter’ Yoo Ye-rin, defeats China and advances to the World Championship finals

(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Kim Do-yong = Korea defeated China and advanced to the finals of the 2024 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Youth Table Tennis Championships, led by the performance of promising star Yoo Ye-rin (Hwaseong City Corporation Youth).

Korea defeated China 3-2 in the semifinals of the women’s U19 team event held in Helsingborg, Sweden on the 24th (Korean time).

As a result, Korea competes for the championship with Taiwan, which won 3-1 over France. The finals will be held on the 25th.

Yoo Ye-rin, the daughter of Korea Exchange coach Yoo Nam-gyu, a gold medalist at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, led the team to victory with her second win alone.

Yu Ye-lin succeeded in dominating the starting line by winning 3-2 over Qin Yuxian in the first singles match.

Next, Park Ga-hyeon (Korean Air) also boosted Korea’s momentum by winning 3-1 over Jonge-man in the second singles match.

However, Choi Na-hyeon (Hosudon Girls’ High School) and Park Ga-hyeon lost in succession in the 3rd and 4th singles matches, and the match continued to the 5th singles match.

Yoo Ye-rin, who represented Korea in the match department, led Korea to victory by defeating Jongeman 3-1.

Yerin Yoo attracted attention this year by winning the U17 singles category at the 2024 World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender Tunisia and Berlin competitions.
