Zapopan Delegation ready for the Latin American Police and Firefighters Games

Seven police officers and three elements of Civil Protection and Firefighters will represent Zapopan in the next Latin American Police and Firefighters Games 2024 in Cali, in Colombia.

The elements presented today (12.11.24) will compete in different sports disciplines that will take place from November 17 to 23.

The general secretary of the Zapopan City Council, Graciela de Obaldía Escalante, gave the flag to the participants.

The firefighter, Alejandra Ávila Díaz, a multi-medal swimmer in local and national competitions, highlighted the pride it means to represent the municipality.

“Being a police officer and being a firefighter are the professions most admired by people, but mainly by children. Being an athlete means getting up earlier than work hours to be able to train, get home and continue with work and obligations,” highlighted Alejandra Ávila.

For his part, Roberto López Macías, general commissioner of Public Security of Zapopan, pointed out that the efforts of the competitors.

“We are sure that they will compete with pride and passion, carrying the name of Zapopan high. We wish them the greatest success and hope that this experience is enriching and full of satisfaction,” added the commissioner.

The ceremony was also attended by Rosa Icela Días, councilor president of the Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Commission, as well as Haidee Viviana Aceves Pérez, president of the Sports Commission.

David González Gutiérrez, boxing.

Oscar David Palacios Ramírez, powerlifting.
