Olbia. At Kan Judo Olbia, the “Judo Team Angelo Calvisi” celebrates an extraordinary achievement: the master Angelo Calvisipresident and technical director of the association founded in 1985, has obtained the prestigious recognition of 6° Danaccompanied by the white-red belt reserved for this rank.
The title was conferred by Olympic Federation FIJLKAM with a “motu proprio” decision by President Domenico Falcone.
The official document underlines Calvisi’s fundamental contribution to Italian judo, praising his “decades of meritorious work” for the technical development and diffusion of the discipline.
This award represents the highest sporting recognition, crowning the long career of the master, already the most successful judoka in the history of Olbia and Gallura judo.
Calvisi is no stranger to records: 14 years ago he became the first 5th Dan teacher in the province by brilliantly passing the exam at the Olympic Center of Ostia.
His passion for judo began in 1973, at just eight years old, in the “Judo Kwai Olbia” gym, and continued under the guidance of master Salvatore Degortes.
Over the years, he has achieved notable results at a regional and national level, including Italian and Sardinian champion titles, as well as countless placings in national and international competitions.
In addition to his successes as an athlete, Angelo Calvisi has organized 61 major sporting events over the last 25 years, making Olbia one of the most important locations in Sardinia for judo.
His dedication also continues as a teacher, with a team that includes children, teenagers and athletes who stand out in various competitions.
“I am very satisfied with this personal promotion which crowns my commitment and sacrifices of 52 years of uninterrupted activity, first as a competitor and then as a teacher. This 6th Dan is a special recognition that motivates me to continue promoting this discipline”, Calvisi said.
In addition to judo, maestro Calvisi cultivates a passion for music and radio.
For over 40 years he has worked as a radio speaker in historic Olbia broadcasters and currently hosts the pop-rock program “Amarcord” on Radio Olbia Web.
Promotion to 6th Dan is not only a personal achievement, but a symbol of Angelo Calvisi’s significant contribution to the world of judo and the community of Olbia, continuing to inspire new generations of judokas and martial arts enthusiasts.
