An Egyptian football match referee saved the life of a player after he was exposed to swallowing his tongue during a match between two teams from Beni Suef Governorate, southwest of Cairo.

The match, which was held at the Popular Square Stadium on Thursday evening, witnessed a painful incident for a player from the Ibshway team, after he swallowed his tongue during a collision with a player from the opposing team.

The 35th minute of the second half witnessed the collision of player Nour Metwally Yakan, a defender of the Ibshway team, with one of the strikers of the Popular Square team, and he fell to the ground unconscious. Immediately, the referee of the match, Ziad Moamen Mahmoud, stopped the match, and ran towards the player and immediately opened the His mouth until ambulance personnel arrived and rescued the player. His treatment was completed outside the field and the referee resumed the match.

The president of the Ibshway club said that the team player was subjected to strong interference from one of the Al-Saha team players, causing him to swallow his tongue, causing him to immediately lose consciousness and fall on the field. The match referee immediately intervened and saved the player.
