Aaron Judge: a $43,000 mistake

Aaron Judge: a ,000 mistake

Aaron Judge’s missed routine catch during Game 5 of the World Series may have been the defining moment of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ conquest and the ball was sold for a nice sum on Friday.

A collector paid $43,510 to get his hands on the item dropped by the New York Yankees outfielder. Leading this series 3 to 1, the Dodgers were not at all on track to close the books during game number 5, their rivals being ahead by five points after four innings.

Except that in the fifth inning at bat for Los Angeles, the ball bounced off the glove of Judge, who was trying to catch Tommy Edman’s arrow. The Dodgers scored five runs in that inning, en route to a 7-6 victory.

“You can’t give extra outs to such a good team,” Judge said after the game. It starts with me, an arrow coming in my direction. I misjudged her. If that doesn’t happen, I think it’s a different story.”

It was Gerrit Cole who was on the mound during this lackluster moment for the Yankees defense. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez all produced runs at his expense during this fifth inning.
